Shumnaya (noisy) River canyon is a hard to reach but uniquely beautiful place. Upper part of the canyon is located between Shirokoye (wide) and Krugloye (round) plateaus and lower part — between Shirokoye (wide) and Gornoye (mountain) plateaus. The canyon is 600 meters deep.
In the middle, the deepest part of the canyon it changes direction at a sharp angle, goes around the Sliyaniya (confluence) peak and changes direction from north-eastern to southern. Shumnaya River cuts through the lava layers here between two plateaus and rolls down in an 80-meter waterfall. Below the waterfall Geyzernaya and Sestrenka rivers fall into Shumnaya at a place called Tri Sestry (three sisters).
Sliyaniya (confluence) peak and Shumnaya River canyon can be easily seen from practically any place in the Valley of Geysers. Evening breeze often brings clouds from the ocean. The clouds roll over the edge of the plateau and touch down the slopes of the canyon.
